Our team specialists continue to actively improve their professional skills in order to contribute effectively to land restoration and environmental safety in Ukraine.
From 11 to 12 August 2026, a specialised two-day training course, “Subsurface Investigation: Soil and Groundwater”, was held in Kharkiv, organised within the framework of the joint mine action project of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Training Programme
The training course combined in-depth theoretical knowledge with field practice. Our specialists learned and practised:
- Fundamentals of hydrogeology and contaminant migration pathways in the subsurface environment;
- Technologies for drilling specialised wells;
- Procedures for soil sampling and documentation in accordance with international standards;
- Installation of monitoring wells for systematic groundwater analysis.
Cooperation with the Ukrainian Soil Pollution Working Group (USPWG)
The knowledge and skills acquired will enable us to conduct pilot investigations of the petroleum products-contaminated area in the Nemyshlia district of Kharkiv in full compliance with best European practices and quality standards. In addition, we reached an agreement that the Ukrainian Soil Pollution Working Group (USPWG), established under the auspices of FAO and bringing together experts to monitor and preserve soil health, will contribute to the quality control of the results of this investigation.
